Top of the league – Week 4 Netherton (h)
Nostell St. Oswalds vs Netherton – 26th May 2007 Match Gallery Psychology has always played a major part in Nostell v Netherton games and it did again on Saturday. Put into bat Nostell got off to a great start with Richie Hardman smashing the ball to all parts before being out for 41, but this [...]
A poem for you all
When days are dark and gloomy and troubles falling thick, I have a home of refuge it’s only, 12 by 6, there I’m proud and happy I know what comforts are, I’m in my little garage underneath my little car. Tribute to Edwin Reynolds, who could run faster backwards than his son Mick could forwards [...]
The view from fine leg
The men in white coats. Back in the dark days of division 4 we always played without umpires. LBW was just something that happened on TV. Then, seemingly all matches have 1 umpire except division 1 which has 2. Excellent.
Still on (a wet) track! Week 3 Newton Hill (a)
Newton Hill vs Nostell St. Oswalds – 19th May 2007 Match Gallery We all knew that when the league voted to move the start of the season back by 2 weeks to take advantage of better weather that it would come back to haunt us. What we did’nt know was that it would be the [...]
The weather is not an issue
Again the heavens tried to thwart us but to no avail. Well it did everything again except the plague of locusts thing but with good performances all round we still pulled through posting a score of 149 on a desperately dodgy wicket. With just a few weather induced mishaps this was a very realistic score [...]

Home, sweet home. Nostell entertain the old enemy Netherton next saturday. It will be, as ever, entertaining but it will feel good to be back home. So…we can enjoy home comforts such as: running water, electricity, lighting, fresh line-caught wild salmon sandwiches and a cup of tea. Add a bar area and the promise of [...]
Back on track! Week 2 Cookridge (h)
Nostell St. Oswalds v Cookridge – 12th May 2007 Match Gallery Seems rather apt the title “Back on Track” because Saturday certainly saw a new side to the so called bad Nostell wicket of previous years. What it put up with and at the end of the day managed to finish looking like was in [...]

It’s ugly, but we love it. Normal service resumes. The narrow minded amongst the league would view that any pitch not at the standard of Garforth last week is not up to scratch; that the only cricket to play is ‘hit it as hard and far as you can’. The Nostell pitch, always low, became [...]
What a load of toss! Week 1 Garforth PC (a)
Garforth PC vs Nostell St. Oswalds – 5th May 2007 Match Gallery It appears I have the dubious honour of writing the first league match report. I won’t be writing them every week as no doubt we’ll have more volunteers if we actually win/or don’t lose on the last ball by 1 wicket! It doesn’t [...]
New Player Profile – Jason Garrick
Co-founder member of Nostell Zealand Jason Garrick now has a player profile in the 1st XI section. Cheers to Nic for doing the deed on his fellow countryman, the picture attached just about does justice to his rather large snout! Only kidding Jason, yours is probably a little bit flatter…
Juniors lead the way
I was going to write about last nights game vs Crofton under 17′s but after witnessing another bizarre game i decided to post about the whole season instead. So far the under 17′s have 2 victories against Old Sharlston/Crofton and 1 draw due to bad light against Castleford whilst in a strong position.

Slog fest’ at the portacabin. I’ve played a lot of matches but not one quite like this. As bowlers we have become accustomed to putting the ball in a decent area and then letting the ball or wicket do all the work. We can’t be blamed for having this slack attitude because it almost always [...]
